Who is responsible for your data
CampusCash is run by Ahmed Hassen in Ethiopia, who decides how your data is used (the "data controller") and also handles data protection questions. Contact: ahmedhassenmohamed11@gmail.com
What we collect
- Account: your name, email address, password (stored scrambled, never readable) and, if you add one, a profile photo.
- Student details: university, year of study, meal plan (cafe or non-cafe), income sources and allowance day.
- Money records you type in: income, expenses, budgets, wallets (cash, Telebirr, bank), money moves, fixed costs, shortcuts, meals and notes.
- Lend & borrow: the name and, if you add it, phone number of people you lend to or borrow from. Only add a friend's phone number if they are fine with it.
- Agreement record: which version of these terms you accepted and when.
What we don't collect
- We never connect to your bank or Telebirr account and never ask for a PIN or bank password.
- When you paste a Telebirr or bank SMS, it is read on your own phone. The message text is never sent to us or saved; only the amount, date, wallet and reference you choose to save are kept.
- No advertising trackers, no selling of data, no data about your religion, health, ethnicity or politics.
Why we use it (and our legal basis)
Only to run CampusCash for you: show your balances, daily safe-to-spend amount, budgets, meal plans and reports, keep your account secure and answer your support requests. Our legal basis is the consent you give when you create your account and the need to provide the service you asked for. You can withdraw consent at any time (see "Your rights"). Giving your name and email is required to have an account; everything else is optional, but the app's numbers are less useful without it.
Automated calculations
The app calculates suggestions such as "safe to spend today" and meal plans from what you type. These are suggestions only. CampusCash makes no automated decisions about you that have legal or similar effects, and no profiling for marketing.
Where your data is stored
CampusCash is hosted by Lovable and its infrastructure partners. Your data is stored on servers in Ireland (European Union), which is outside Ethiopia, and is encrypted while it travels over the internet. You agree to this when you create your account. Data stored abroad may be protected by different laws than in Ethiopia.
Who can see it
- You. Other students can never see your records.
- A small number of authorised CampusCash administrators, to give support, keep the service safe and handle your requests.
- Our service providers: Lovable (hosting, database, sign-in emails, standard server logs and basic visit counts) and Google, only if you choose "Sign in with Google".
- Authorities, only if Ethiopian law requires it.
How long we keep it
While your account is open. If you use "Deactivate my account" in your profile, your account is deactivated and your records are kept so you can come back; ask us anytime to erase everything permanently and we will do it within 30 days, unless the law requires us to keep something. Copies in backups are removed when those backups expire.
Your rights
- See and copy your data: use "Download my data" on your Profile page, or ask us.
- Correct it: edit it in the app, or ask us.
- Erase it permanently, restrict or object to its use, and withdraw consent.
- Complain to the Ethiopian Communications Authority, which supervises data protection in Ethiopia.
Email ahmedhassenmohamed11@gmail.com from the email on your account. It's free, and we answer within 30 days.
Age
CampusCash is for people aged 16 or older. If you believe a younger child has made an account, tell us and we will remove it.
If something goes wrong
If a security problem puts your data at risk, we will tell the Ethiopian Communications Authority and the affected students within 72 hours of finding out, as Ethiopian law requires. See our Security page.
Cookies and changes
We only use what's needed to keep you signed in; see the Cookie Policy. If we change this policy in an important way, the app will ask you to accept the new version before you continue.
